Curren Caples may be a newcomer to just having his driver’s license, but the young guy’s capabilities reach far beyond his age. The Ventura, Calif. native has been the talk of the town for the last few years, since making his X Games debut in 2010, and even more so now that he made the jump to the pro ranks at the 2013 Tampa Pro. At the 2010 X Games, Curren became the first male competitor to be born after the yearly event’s (now multi-yearly) debut in 1995 and was the youngest athlete competing that year on the pro level, despite still being an amateur.     For Ryan Sheckler, it’s always good to share the podium with the homies. And although Oakley’s Superstar didn’t pick up the X Games Skateboard Street Gold this year, he at least took second behind one worthy champ: P-Rod. “I was just happy to land my run,” Ryan said, rocking his Oakley eyewear. “It just worked out. I really wanted to land that back 3 and I got that, so I’m stoked,” Sheckler said. “I’m very excited to be up here. I haven’t had a podium finish in a minute, so I’m stoked.”

    This year’s X Games marked the 18th edition of the tried-and-true action and motor sports event. One man who’s been a consistent figure at the contest: Rune Glifberg. The 37-year-old Denmark native has competed in every Summer X Games since its conception. Glifberg took the bronze medal in the Men’s Skateboard Park, bringing his X Games medal tally to 11. He had previously won the event in 2008 and 2009.

    The Legend continues. Oakley’s long-time Skateboard Icon, Bob Burnquist, facing the influx of new-generation riders pushing the envelope in the sport, claimed his fourth X Games Big Air Gold on Friday. The Brazilian, who tweaked his lower back during practice earlier in the week, dropped into the Finals with his usual aura of greatness, throwing down a killer 94.33 third run laced with an Indy 720 over to Fakie – squatting out of the run.
