Curren Caples may be a newcomer to just having his driver’s license, but the young guy’s capabilities reach far beyond his age. The Ventura, Calif. native has been the talk of the town for the last few years, since making his X Games debut in 2010, and even more so now that he made the jump to the pro ranks at the 2013 Tampa Pro. At the 2010 X Games, Curren became the first male competitor to be born after the yearly event’s (now multi-yearly) debut in 1995 and was the youngest athlete competing that year on the pro level, despite still being an amateur.     What do you get when you combine Oakley, the infamous “Ridiculous Pool”, skate legends, artistic expression and a college campus? Love and Guts, Redlands University style. Oakley’s Love and Guts Art Show – whose “Eyes Wide Open” exhibition to date has spanned the Globe to honor the memory of skateboarding’s fallen heroes whose lives were lost too early – ripped its way back to its home region, Southern California last week…complete with its usually extraordinary collection of skate legends, their multiple talents and their overall presence.

    It’s eluded him for a while now. He tried it on the X Games mega ramp this summer…but to no avail. But when Oakley skate legend Bob Burnquist finally landed the 900 this past week – on his backyard mega ramp, provided in part by Oakley – it was even more insane than he originally intended. Why? Not only was it on a mega ramp. It was fakie to fakie. Check out what Bob had to say about the huge feat during a routine visit to Oakley Headquarters on Sept. 7.
