Ground Swell Continues to Grow in China

With just three days remaining before the highly anticipated Oakley and Shaun White Air + Style drops into Beijing’s Olympic Stadium, local athletes leading the charge for the sport of snowboarding in China took center stage at the final Rookie Challenge qualifier. That is not all the day had in store however!

Immediately after the contest the top 12 Rookie Challenge riders and snowboard legend Shaun White himself, headed off to the D Lounge – a local hot spot whose already plush decor, including an industrial brick facade coupled with fine leather couches, was topped off with custom Oakley flare.

The occasion, a meet and greet with Shaun White. The private party was privy to refreshing beverages, exotic finger foods and a complimentary photo booth all of which put guests from the riders to media and local accounts in a festive mood, but the real treat was the opportunity to get to know Shaun, learn about his relationship with Oakley and discuss the future of snowboarding in China.

The impact of the Oakley and Shaun White Air + Style event is apparent after just one year as is evidenced by the growing enthusiasm for snowboarding, its ambassador in China and the brand.

“It’s amazing to see that the riding level has grown,” said Shaun during a quick question and answer session with guests. “The Chinese snowboarders have an amazing excitement about their riding – you can tell they are enthusiastic about being on their boards and that’s priceless."

About as priceless as a photo with Shaun which is exactly what a select group of guests got!

Needless to say it was a long, but wildly successful day which has officially set the tone for the second annual Oakley and Shaun White Air + Style event which will go down on Saturday December 3 at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing, China.

Stay tuned for more from China as the ground swell continues to grow with additional Oakley team riders landing in the country as we speak!
