Henning Crowned King of Urban Skateboarding

The world’s skating elite took over the streets of Helsinki, Finland last weekend and the first chapter of Red Bull Hefe of Helsinki was written. Red Bull Hefe of Helsinki invitational skateboarding event brought skateboarding back to its roots and on to the streets. By the end of the weekend, Norwegian Henning Braaten was crowned the king of urban skateboarding.

More than 5000 spectators witnessed more than 60 of the world’s top skateboarders from four continents battle it out at skateboarding venues around the sunny capital city of Finland. The event included ten competitions in five different locations, including Kontula Skate Hall, Ponke’s Skatepark, Micropolis Skatepark and Kamppi Mall. Skateboarders competed in four different categories including Pool, Best trick, Street, Snake Run and Downhill. The prize money was divided among the winners.

Although Finnish skateboarders dominated the competition, the jury of four skateboard professionals choose Henning Braaten from Norway as the best and the most versatile skater of the weekend. He was crowned as the very first Red Bull Hefe of Helsinki.

“It was awesome, great spots and the riding was so much fun,” said Henning. “Hopefully the event will be organized again next year. The king will be definitely back!”
