  • Golden Boy: Oakley’s Shaun White Reclaims Skateboard Vert Glory at X Games 17

Posted about 3 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Gold Medals can’t evade Shaun White for too long. Oakley’s multi-sport superstar, fresh off yet another Superpipe Gold at Winter X, finally reclaimed the elusive Skateboard Vert Gold on Saturday – snatching the victory from the three-year grasp of Pierre-Luc Gagnon. But this one was far from being over…until the very last second. Incredible drama unfolded as the Final heat smashed into action – with the two favorites battling head to head. Shaun’s early run – racking up a solid 89.33 – was quickly clipped by a few huge runs from PLG, who quickly claimed the lead and held it for most of the session. It seemed insurmountable for many of the global fans watching the action on the broadcast and the nervous bunch on hand at Nokia Center. Then again, when is it ever a good idea to doubt Shaun White?

  • The Legend Returns: Bob Burnquist Claims Big Air Gold at X Games 17, Brazilians Rock Oakley on the Megaramp

Posted about 3 years ago by Andrew De Lara

He already had 20 X Games medals. But Oakley Skate Legend Bob Burnquist hadn’t claimed Big Air Gold in two long years. Until Friday, that is. Make that 21. The timeless Brazilian bomber launched his way to his third gold medal on the Megaramp – throwing down a massive switch 5 into lein rodeo to grab and retain the lead in the contest. No one would come close.

  • Bronzed: Ryan Sheckler Claims Skateboard Street Bronze at X Games 17

Posted about 3 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Ryan Sheckler wasn’t quite in top form this past week at X Games 17. But Oakley’s skate team superstar displayed his natural talent in grabbing the Skateboard Street Bronze amidst fierce competition from the young phenoms on the course. Ryan’s full runs didn’t materialize the way he’d hoped, with the only complete planned run ending with a long, solid rail grind.

  • Elevation: Bob Burnquist Gears Up for X Games 17 Skateboard Big Air Glory

Posted about 3 years ago by Andrew De Lara

If you know anything about skateboard history, you know Bob Burnquist. Hell, even if your knowledge is limited to skateboard video games, you still know and love Bob. Well the Legend is back for more. With 20 Summer X Games medals in the bag, it still isn’t enough for Oakley’s Brazilian bomber. Let’s just say, this year is going to be absolutely all-time. Coming off a Summer X last year where he landed a massive switch stale 540 into an indy 540 to earn a 93 and Silver medal, Bob is also fresh the heels of landing the first-ever fakie to fakie 900 on a megaramp – in his backyard. Which begs the question, what kind of aerial insanity will be going down this year? Will there be a 900 in competition?

  • Going For GOLD: Shaun White Charges Into X Games 17 for Vert Glory, Inspired by Gold Holbrook Collection

Posted about 3 years ago by Andrew De Lara

There’s no surprises here. Shaun White is going for Gold. Oakley’s multi-sport superstar is dropping into X Games 17 in Los Angeles on the heels of yet another glorious Winter X Games Superpipe Gold. And there’s absolutely no doubt that he’s aiming to power himself back to the top of the Skateboard Vert podium in the summertime. Although he will definitely be keeping it fun, as he does always, his ultimate goal is that shiny Gold medal. And if his past Vert Golds weren’t enough motivation for him, his brand new Oakley Gold Holbrook collection should do the trick.

  • Starring Roles: Ryan Sheckler Set to Defend Skateboard Street Gold at X Games 17, Ripper Milton Martinez to Make Debut

Posted about 3 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Ryan Sheckler is focused. Oakley’s superstar skate team rider has been in top form – shooting for a prominent video part and preparing to defend his X Games Skateboard Street Gold at Summer X 17. But make no mistake, as much as he’s intensely pumped for this week’s action sports spectacle in Los Angeles, he’s relaxed and enjoying the moment. Don’t forget Oakley’s own Argentinian ripper Milton Martinez, who is, without a doubt, one of the most talented street skaters on the Planet. The catch? The dude hasn’t ever competed in an X Games on American soil.
