"Push and Pull" Premiere
Matchstick Production’s movie tour kicked off in Whistler this weekend. September might seem early for a ski movie premiere but since I’ve been dreaming about skiing for most of the summer, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
After an amazing day of showing the visiting winter crew around Whistler Mountain’s Bike Park (unfortunately I forgot to wear my "Get Out Of My Way I’m Not On Vacation" t-shirt) we gathered on the Citta’s Patio for some drinks and nachos. All of the MSP film crew, athletes from the movie, good friends from throughout the ski industry had assembled and consumed several hundred dollars of après supplies. It was now time to head up the Whistler gondola to the premieres fantastic venue The Roundhouse lodge.
The upload was beautiful with the sun setting over mountains that had recently been lightly dusted with snow, as a sold out crowd of 900 ski enthusiasts (plus one pirate friend whose ticket was a 50cc mini bike) arrived to check out some hot ski action and get as stoked as I am for the upcoming season. The movie was filled with deep powder shots and great lines produced from last years epic season, I’m sure everyone in the room left jonesing for it to start dumping in hopes of another incredible year. We enjoyed a spectacular view of the village lights while downloading the gondola as we headed to the GLC for a VIP party and got down with The Sweatshop Union.
The party then gained momentum as the crowd headed to Garfinkels and was united with the usual Whistler drunken gong show scene. Late night quests for food and more booze became the focus as the night ended a bit too blurry to properly recollect. The next morning we managed to meet up at the bottom of the bike park for a tasty breakfast and strong coffee at Behind The Grind.
We kicked off round two of the Whistler Matchstick premiere by once again shredding the bike park as we anticipated heading back to Garf’s to check out the athlete edited version "Pull" and enjoy another great night out on the town.
