You read it right. Oakley Ski Shredder Sammy Carlson recently dropped into Snowboarder Superpark in Oregon…as the only skier there. Scary, we know. Personally invited by Pat Bridges from Snowboarder Magazine, he ripped the place apart…amongst a crowd of angry snowboarders, that is. Check out the below Q&A with Sammy by Jeff Schmuck of NewSchoolers.com (images by Brian Dalrymple). And don’t miss the sick video!
Rampaging to History: Alex Schlopy Continues to Roll, Triumphs at First-Ever FIS Freestyle World Championship Slopestyle as Del Bosco Grabs Skier X Gold
Oakley’s young ski ripper Alex Schlopy is kickin’ arse, takin’ names and making history…ever so humbly, that is. The Winter X Games Gold Medalist, fresh off a dazzling Big Air victory as an X rookie less than a week before, charged his way into the record books as the first-ever FIS Freestyle World Championship Slopestyle winner on his home turf in Park City, Utah this past week. As the first Slopestyle event held at the World Championship event, it was hugely important for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who’s currently considering the event for the 2015 Olympic Games. Obviously no pressure.
Sammy Carlson knew that the Skiing Slopestyle Final on Saturday would be more than challenging with new faces charging and elevating the standard. But Oakley’s Star Skier more than stepped up to the plate, throwing down a rail section 270 joystick grab, kangaroo flip, double rodeo 900, double flat 900 and a double cork 1080 in his first run to secure his first Gold in the event.
