For Seth Morrison, skiing is much more than a sport or job, it’s a way of life. It’s not a privilege he was born with; it’s a passion he discovered on his own. Through hard work and dedication, Morrison has become one of the best skiers in the world. The Ordinary Skier traces his journey from the middle class suburbs of Chicago to the Colorado Rockies and into the underground ski-bum subculture that would eventually become Freeskiing. This is the story of how a collection of misfits turned an elite sport upside down, and how an ordinary kid chased his dream and became one of skiing’s most iconic heroes.

Oakley Announces "The Ordinary Skier:" Two Year RED Camera Documentary on Iconic Oakley Athlete Seth Morrison

Oakley’s 1242 Productions, in cooperation with Constantine “CP” Papanicolaou, announced today the upcoming release of “The Ordinary Skier,” a documentary film on Oakley skier Seth Morrison.

“I want the film to show that you can make whatever you want to out of yourself, says Morrison. “That whatever it is, if it’s driven by passion and you work hard enough, anything can happen.”

Morrison consistently tops Powder Magazine’s Reader Poll and was acknowledged as one of “the most influential skiers of our time.”

The two-year film project aims to show that professional skiing isn’t a winter hobby, but rather a year-round pursuit of exploration and adventure.

“There’s no one who deserves this opportunity more than Seth,” says Greg Strokes, Oakley Sports Marketing Manager. "He has been dedicated to the Oakley brand for 18 years and has lead our team since day one.”

Always pushing the envelope and looking forward, Morrison is one of the few in action sports world who have remained at the forefront of their sport for almost two decades. His incredible staying power is testimony to his constant evolution as a skier. As he continuously looks ahead, it comes as no surprise that his documentary should do the same.

“For next year, we’ll be visiting a handful of locations in North America and Europe,” says CP, who filmed and directed “Show & Prove,” “The Massive” and “Believe.” “We will find answers to questions about Seth’s past, present and future.”

“The Ordinary Skier” follows Morrison to South America, Colorado, interior British Columbia, the High Sierra and Chamonix. Morrison will be joined by Oakley athletes in his travels around the globe, including Pep Fujas, Sean Pettit, JP Auclair and Sammy Carlson.

“The Ordinary Skier” will be available Fall 2011.

We’ve been raving about his masterful skills behind the lens. And you already see his work in the Fall 2011 Oakley Apparel Catalog.

Well Blake Jorgenson was on the road again – with the Big O – capturing some of the sickest images of our riders as they ripped for an Oakley documentary on our very own Seth Morrison in Retallack, BC.

His first shoot of the year had him romping around with Seth and Sean Pettit filming for “Seth Morrison – The Ordinary Skier,” coming out next fall. And as always, there were some amazing shots.

But don’t take our word for it. Check out his blog for commentary from his own mouth/pen, amazing images and a killer video.
