Oakley Powers To A Strong Finish At The Giro d' Italia
Oakley powered to a strong finish at this year’s Giro d’Italia, winning the last two stages. Oakley’s Swiss rider Johann Tschoop, wearing Radar, won the 20th and penultimate stage, while Oakley’s Cadel Evans came in second. Oakley’s Gustav Larsson of Sweden, wearing Radar XL, won the final stage individual time trial.
In stage 20, Tschopp finished the 178 kilometer route from Bormio to Ponte di Legno-Tonale in 5 hours, 26 minutes, 47 seconds.
Cadel Evans was second and Ivan Basso squeezed ahead of Michele Scarponi for third. Tschopp took control of the race on the descent from the Cima Coppi and held his form despite strong pressure from Evans over the closing stages.
In the final stage, Larsson won the 15 kilometer individual time trial and took the first win of his season outside Verona’s spectacular Piazza Bra Arena. “I am very happy to win a stage, and I hope it’s not my last big win,” Larsson said.
“I worked a lot in the last days for Richie. I had hoped to have the legs to do a good race today, and I did it.”
