Tour De France - Stage 7: Froome Wins Stage As Teammate Wiggins Takes Yellow Jersey
In the first summit finish of the 2012 Tour de France, things were lining up to be British Team Sky’s kind of day. With sprinters like early stage winners Andre Greipel and Peter Sagan expected to let the climbers have the glory on the day, the scene was set for the heavy contenders to compete for a stage victory. Enter Bradley Wiggins. Considered the rider who would give defending champion Cadel Evans a run for his money in this year’s Tour, Wiggins rode in the front of the peloton virtually the entire 199km of the stage from Tomblaine up to the Vosges mountains ski station of La Planche des Belles Filles. Protecting and pacing him during the grueling climb up the last 6km was his Kenyan-born, British teammate, Christopher Froome. Right behind them was Team BMC’s Cadel Evans. Sprint To The Finish: Mark Cavendish Speeds To Tour de France Stage Two Victory
Acclaimed sprinter and reigning world champion Mark Cavendish prevailed in an all out sprint to the finish in the second stage of the Tour de France. The 207km second stage began in Vise and finished in Tournai, with the Isle of Man native crossing the line first. This was Cavendish’s 21st career Tour de France stage victory. The 27-year-old Team Sky rider beat out rival Andre Greipel of Germany at the finish.

Team Sky’s Mark Cavendish Wins First General Classification Title
Team Sky’s Mark Cavendish looks to carry over his current success into this year’s Tour de France. The young rider claimed the first general classification victory of his career earlier in June, winning the Ster ZLM Toer on Sunday by eight seconds over Lars Boom (Rabobank).
