Vincenzo Nibali is an Italian born road cyclist known as “The Shark.” Riding for the Kazakhstani ProTeam Astana, Nibali is known as one of the most fierce stage race riders in recent years. While he is very strong in stage races, the Italian has also proven himself at the highest level, winning two of the three Grand Tours (2010 Vuelta a Espana, 2013 Giro d’Italia).

Nibali’s most impressive and prized accomplishment came in 2013 when he won the Giro d’Italia in front of his home fans. The Italian won stage 18, a mountain time trial to all but solidify the Magila Rosa during the weather plagued race. Putting his big win in perspective, Nibali said: “I’ve achieved one of my lifetime dreams. I can’t believe it. It’s unbelievable.” Nibali will look to capture the only missing piece on his Grand Tour resume, putting much of his emphasis on the upcoming Tour de France.
