    Oakley athletes dominated The Tour of California, taking the overall victory and winning 4 out of 8 stages. The eight-day race covers over 800 miles of some of California’s most beautiful terrain, including through the redwoods, the wine country, along the Pacific Coast, and finishing in Thousand Oaks, CA. Most riders claimed it was one of the most physically demanding races that they have done. This year’s tour saw some of the best cyclists in the world competing including Tour de France winners, Olympic medalists and World Champions.

    Oakley’s Filippo Pozzato of Italy timed his sprint perfectly and won stage 12 at the Giro d’ Italia last Thursday. Pozzato’s win is the first Italian victory in this year’s Giro d’Italia. Oakley’s Richie Porte kept his lead and the leader’s pink jersey in the general classification.

    Oakley’s Mark Cavendish, who surged to the front in the waning meters of the 104.3-mile trip from Nevada City to Sacramento, with the help of his teammates, won the opening stage of the Tour of California on Sunday. Oakley’s Juan Jose Haedo of Argentina finished second, while Oakley’s Alexander Kristoff finished third.

    Oakley’s Taylor Phinney and Jesse Sergent out-raced the biggest names in the sport during the fourth and third stage of the Tour of the Gila. Phinney won stage four with a powerful sprint at the end to take the Silver City Criterium. Sergent beat a world-class field in stage three, the 26.6 kilometer time trial.

    Oakley’s Alejandro Valverde secured his victory at the Tour de Romandie on the final stage, a 121.8 km mountainous route that started and finished in Sion, Switzerland, on Sunday. Valverde entered the stage one-second behind Oakley’s Australian race-leader Michael Rogers.
