Oakley’s Janko Tipsarevic will head to London on a hot streak. Coming at the perfect time, heading into London, Tipsarevic won the Mercedes Open in Stuttgart Germany, improving on his previous top finish of 2012 – 2nd place in Chennai. Prior to the Mercedes Cup, he was the only tennis player ranked in the top 10 without a win in 2012. That all changed when the Serbian superstar defeated second seed Juan Monaco of Argentina 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in a rainy match.

After winning the first set 6-4, Tipsarevic lost a 4-1 lead in the second after returning to the court from a rain delay. It was Tipsarevic who insisted on delaying the match until the rain had left. It came back to haunt him when Monaco returned from the rain delay, seemingly refreshed. The Argentine won 12 of the next 13 points, including all eight on Tiparevic’s serve. While he dropped the second set, Tipsarevic came from behind after another 20-minute rain delay in the third to secure his first victory on clay.

“I really still don’t believe I won the tournament,” Tipsarevic said. “But I kept fighting until the end.”
Following his big win at the Mercedes Cup, Tipsarevic placed second at the Swiss Open. Tipsarevic was beaten by Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil. His second, runner-up finish of the season, on top of his impressive win at the Mercedes Cup have boosted the Serbian’s confidence leading up to London.

“I usually play very well when it’s a team competition so that makes it even more exciting for me and it would obviously be great to win a medal either in singles or doubles,” Tipsarevic said about the upcoming Games.

Congratulations to Janko on his first victory of the season and best of luck in London.
