The Hague: Brazilian Beach VB Stars Franca and Silva Top Walsh and May at FIVB Netherlands

Kerri Walsh and her partner Misty May-Treanor definitely have a hump to overtake. And that hump is a pair of Brazilian Bombers.

Oakley’s Larissa Franca and Juliana Silva topped fellow Oakley Beach Volleyball Star, Kerry, for the fifth time this year, claiming the Gold at The Hague Open in the Netherlands late August.

After leading the Brazilians most of the first set – Larissa and Juliana stormed back for four straight points to take the game. It was cruisin’ from there – as the South American duo pulled away after an eight-all tie for the 21-17, 21-15 victory.

The pair’s triumph tallies their sixth FIVB Gold Medal of the year, including their World Title in June (Rome). The Americans claimed their fourth Silver this Summer on their journey to regaining top form for 2012.

Kerri and Misty, two-time Olympic Gold medalists and three-time World Champions, are likely done with the FIVB season as the tour rolls into Phuket, Thailand for the last stop. Their first season back together since 2008 – when the two separated in efforts to start their respective families – was undoubtedly solid. But what’s more, it may be even more motivation for the two to chase their former position as the top team in the World.

Congratulations to Larissa and Juliana for the big win – and to Kerri and Misty for yet another amazing year!
