Lucky No. 7: Ai Miyazato Claims a Seventh LPGA Victory at the Evian Masters
Oakley golfer Ai Miyazato’s recent victory at the Evian Masters may have been her 7th LPGA win, but this particular triumph represents much more than just a career stat for the 26 year-old. After the massive 9.0 earthquake which triggered a devastating tsunami in Japan this past March, Miyazato has turned her attention to helping her country through this daunting recovery period. Along with fellow golfers, Mika Miyazato and Momoku Ueda, Ai Miyazato is leading an aid foundation for the victims who are still suffering as a direct result of the catastrophe. With six LPGA victories already behind her, Miyazato came to France with the incentive to provide hope and inspiration to her struggling nation. With a motive completely different from that which enabled her to rise to No. 1 in the world last year, Miyazato came out of the Evian Masters victorious. In her final round, Miyazato shot a score of 70 and 15 under par. Miyazato has said that she plans to donate either some or all of the $458,500, 1st place prize check to her aid foundation.
