Half Ironman: Jo Lawn Victorious at Port Macquarie 70.3
It might as well have been Ironman New Zealand.
Oakley’s Jo Lawn, a seven-time NZ winner, waxed the women’s field at the Port Macquarie Half Ironman, finishing 22 minutes ahead of runner-up contender Madeleine Oldfield.
“That hurt. I led the swim out and the bike was tough, the wind was really tough out there. It was a really honest ride,” Jo said, rockin’ her Oakley performance eyewear. “On the run I thought I was in second place. I gave it all that I had and tried to stay strong. As an Ironman I don’t have the same pace but I was really pleased with how that went today.”
Lawn had ridden a 2:32:28 split on the bike ride and run a 1:28:39 for the 13.1 mile run. The blazing performance handed her the title with an overall time of 4:15:26
