15 ultra intense stages are in the rear view mirror. And still, Oakley riders are displaying their top form. Mark Cavendish, as expected, is definitely one of the most impressive. Oakley’s star sprinter continued dominance of his craft by claiming the 15th Tour de France stage – his fourth stage win of the race and a move to tighten his grip on the overall points competition lead. Thor Hushovd has already rocked the Yellow Jersey. And he’s in form to keep challenging – as evidenced by a solid Stage 13 triumph at the Tour de France. O’s Norwegian star blazed clear of the peloton after 57km as the overall leaders conserved some of their energy for what will be an ultra-intense Saturday stage in the mountains. Rival Jeremy Roy attempted to charge for the front of the pack at the final climb – a monster – Col d’Aubisque. A long downhill descent into a flat finish into Lourdes proved to be a factor as Thor channeled all his energy into catching Roy with just 2km left to claim the win by 10 seconds. The victory continues Thor’s stellar Tour record – with nine individual stages under his belt (with at least one victory in the last six Tours – as well as taking the green points jersey in 2005 and 2009.
