The dying words of his late coach were more than likely at the top of his mind. Oakley star cyclist Cadel Evans fulfilled the dream of his coach Aldo Sassi this weekend – claiming the Yellow Jersey in Stage 20 on his way to an overall Tour de France Championship triumph. The Aussie standout, the first of his country to claim the ultra-prestigious honor, closed out what had been one of the most intensely dramatic races in years by trampling a 57-second deficit to fellow Oakley star Andy Schleck (Leopard Trek).
Oakley golfer Ai Miyazato’s recent victory at the Evian Masters may have been her 7th LPGA win, but this particular triumph represents much more than just a career stat for the 26 year-old. Oakley Star Cyclist Andy Schleck of Leopard Trek – edged out last year by defending Champ Alberto Contador for the Yellow Jersey – finally clinched a stage victory (18) after steadily stepping up over the course of the race. The 26-year-old phenom stepped up the attack in stunning fashion to triumph atop the Col du Galibier. Reminiscent of past battles with his primary rival, Andy broke clear with a charge on the Col d’Izoard – leaving Contador flailing in the peloton.
