Rory McIlroy has officially arrived. And a new era has begun.

Oakley’s young Global Golf Superstar emphatically shut the door on doubters and tough finishes this year by emerging victorious at the U.S. Open, smashing into the final round with a commanding eight-stroke lead and sealing the deal with an awe-inspiring final round – finishing two-under-par 69 for an eight-shot win. All while matching or breaking 12 U.S. Open records in his Custom Oakley Radar Path Eyewear and high-tech golf apparel.

Dazzling the Sports World with a truly masterful display of unprecedented skill at the Congressional Country Club in Maryland, Rory dominated both the course and the headlines all week long. And Sunday was a picture perfect finish to a contest where he made U.S. Open history by setting the all-time low record after 36 and 54 holes. Rory became only the third player in U.S. Open history to return all four rounds in the 60s.

“I’m so happy to be holding this trophy,” Rory said – swelling with emotion on Father’s Day with his dad onsite to witness his historic performance. “I played great for four days and I couldn’t be happier. Augusta was a valuable experience for me. I knew what I needed to do today to win. In Augusta, I learned things about myself and my game. I put different things into practice, and it paid off.”

The youngest U.S. Open winner since Bobby Jones in 1923, our Northern Irish phenom dropped into the final pairing alongside Yang Yong-Eun. And there was no let up in dominance. Despite his age, Rory displayed veteran poise and confidence as he birdied the first hole of the day to stretch his lead to a jaw-dropping nine shots at 15 under overall. And his foot never let off the gas pedal from there.

His tee shot on the 10th hole (Par-3) – which rolled to a mere inches from the hole – moved him to 17-under par and even closer to his long-awaited triumph.

It was mechanical…even machine-like as he cruised through the final 18 with his super-accurate long game, amazing approach play and smooth putting.

Spectators, media personalities, TV commentators and even fellow pros all marveled at Rory’s amazing play.

Drawing praise from the entire Sports World for his pleasant demeanor, focus, humility and freak talent, even Global Stars from other sports showered the 22-year-old with wonderful words. Tennis Superstar Rafael Nadal of Spain openly called him inspiring as the final round got underway.

“He deserves to win a major because, in my opinion, right now he’s playing at a different level than the rest. So for sure he is an inspiration. I admire him a lot,” Nadal said in multiple media reports.

The elusive first major was finally won – signaling a new, exciting era in the sport…and changing its face.

A huge congratulations from the entire Oakley family! Keep on eye on Rory as he begins his march toward making more history!
