US Open: Oakley Superstar Golfers Poised to Charge for Glory in Maryland
Oakley Golf is more than a rising tide.
Our power-packed team of bold competitors is set to inflict some serious damage to the field at the 111th US Open at the Congressional Country Club in Maryland – June 16-19. Facing a collection of more than 100 of the country’s most talented golfers, the O crew, lead by our young superstar and current World No. 6 ranked Rory McIlroy, will vie for the title amidst the challenging 7,250 yard, Par 70 course.
As designated Top 30 players on the PGA and European Tour Money Lists in 2010, Rory and fellow Oakley hotshot Ian Poulter automatically qualify for the event, while O’s talented Ricky Barnes will look to make his way into the field in the coming weeks.
On the heels of an epic overall performance at the ultra-prestigious Masters in Augusta, Rory, who held the lead nearly every round before a captivated, world-wide audience, will look to set himself back on track to challenge for the prominent title.
Decked out in his high-tech Oakley apparel (including the Take Pant) and brand new Oakley Fast Jacket™ eyewear, the Northern Irish phenom will once again find himself in the global golf spotlight: In the face of naysayers who point to his inexperience as a factor in his finishing of matches. O’s star is poised to prove them all wrong.
European Ryder Cup teammate Ian Poulter – still relishing in his phenomenal Ryder Cup-winning performance last year – will also be challenging center stage in his Oakley Fast Jacket™ eyewear.
Poulter, fresh off a World Match Play Championship final victory in Spain this past week – where he denied fellow Brit Luke Donald the sport’s top ranking – has catapulted to a World No. 14 Ranking, and will look to ride momentum as he smashes into Maryland.
Ricky, who finished fourth at the Honda Classic and tied for 20th at the Masters, always plays his best golf when the stakes are highest. Watch for him as he rocks Oakley gear from head-to-toe (eyewear, apparel, shoes, etc.) in the coming weeks during his quest to qualify.
