There’s no better term to describe Rory McIlroy than “on fire.” The young Northern Irishman has been on a role as of late and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. As the golf world prepares for the Tour Championship and the conclusion of the FedEx Cup Playoffs in the upcoming weeks, McIlroy looks to be one step ahead of the game. The 23-year-old won his second tour stop in a row, claiming the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick on Sunday. Banking on his PGA Championship victory six days prior, McIlroy capped off another successful weekend with a final day 5-under 67 to hold off veterans Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood by two strokes on the weekend. This was McIlroy’s third Tour victory in his last four tournaments.
Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy took very little time to return to his winning ways following his recent PGA Championship victory at Kiawah Island. The young golfer secured the Deutsche Bank Championship just three weeks after his victory in South Carolina. In a hard fought battle with the likes of Luis Oosthuizen and Tiger Woods, McIlroy emerged victorious after shooting a final-round 67. His win in Massachusetts marked the third victory of the year for McIlroy and moved him to the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings.
