Oakley Kick Starts The 2010 US Open In Style

Monday’s can be tough for everyone no matter what their profession, the cult classic “Office Space” had a great line that was used several times, that one might have a case of the Mundays, or issue with starting off their week. Well this did not hold true for the three top Oakley tennis players at this year’s US Open being on opening day in the sweltering late summer heat of NYC.

First up was Anastasia Rodionova from Australia wearing Oakley apparel and eyewear who took down her opponent from Serbia, Bojana Jovanovski 7-5, 6-4 in the glaring sun which gave way to some serious heat for day one.

Following Anastasia on Court 15 was none either than Oakley’s top Rx athlete Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia. Janko was rocking a custom pair of Flak Jacket sunglasses to match his new Fila outfit for the US Open with Transition Rx lenses. Tipsarevic took a set to snap into form, but once he did it was a steam roll to the finish line in front of a very rowdy Belgium crowd cheering on his opponent Olivier Rochus. The final score was 4-6, 7-5, 7-6, 6-2. Next up for the young Serbian is the gun-slinging server Andy Roddick.

The last match of the day for Oakley was our top tennis player, Sam Stosur, current world number five player in the world. Sam started off slow against her young Russian opponent Elena Vesnina losing the first set. But Stosur would dig deep and pull off a very tough second set that saw neither lady wanting to hold serve and going to a tie-breaker. In the tiebreaker Sam ran away with it and took that momentum into the final set taking that handedly 6-1.

Look for more action and updates over the rest of the week.
