    Nearly ten thousand athletes and some fifty thousand fans make the annual pilgrimage to Monterey, California for the mountain bike season opener, the Sea Otter Classic. Now one of the world’s largest bike festivals, the Sea Otter Classic began as a modest one-day event in 1991 after a local bike shop suggested that co-founders Frank Yohannan and Lou Rudolph put on a mountain bike race.   • American Olympian Gwen Jorgensen Wins Omegawave World Triathlon Series San Diego, Oakley Women Sweep Podium

    In a highly competitive, back-and-forth battle at Mission Beach, San Diego, American Gwen Jorgensen took the title of 2013 Omegawave World Triathlon Series San Diego Champion. The Wisconsin native became the first ever American to win a World Triathlon Series event, beating out Britain’s Non Stanford and Australia’s Emma Moffat, who took second and third respectively. Jorgensen snuck just under the two our mark for her first ever win as a USA Triathlon Elite competitor. Additionally her win crowned her USA Elite Women’s National Champion.

    This weekend in Manchester, England, the world of BMX will kick off one of the most highly anticipated seasons in the sport’s history. Coming off of a successful 2012 London Olympic Games, only the sport’s second appearance at the pinnacle of sporting competition, BMX Racing continues with its most important series of races, with Oakley by it’s side.
