    Man, that’s a big fish…err fishes. Kevin VanDam’s three-day total of a massive 69 pounds, 11 ounces from this past weekend in New Orleans (Mississippi River Delta) is the heaviest ever taken to the scale in a Bassmaster Classic with a five-fish daily limit. That’s some major fishage. Major enough for Kevin to reel in yet another World Championship and a record-tying fourth Bassmaster Title.

    Mark Cavendish is starting off the season in style. Oakley’s star cyclist smashed his way to his first 2011 win in the final stage of the Tour of Oman from Qurayat to Mattrah Seafront. Cavendish powered across the line ahead of Russia’s Denis Galimzyanov and Italy’s Andrea Guardini at the end of the 157 kilometer stage to claim a bunch sprint victory. Our British standout’s win was HTC-Highroad’s second victory in the 2011 Tour of Oman, after teammate Matt Goss took Stage 2, also wearing the leader’s jersey for two days.

    Honestly it’s one of the most exciting times of the year in sports with the NBA, NHL, NCAA Basketball and Hockey closing in on their respective post seasons as well as the start to the PGA Tour, ATP Tour, NASCAR, and F1. I mean the list just goes on and on with great sports action. One of the sports with the most American history has to be the start of Spring Training for the MLB.

    Oakley for the second year in a row have our Rolling O Lab located at the end of the main entrance tent at the Phoenix Open. To say it doesn’t turn heads and make people stop by to purchase new sunglasses on the spot would be quite the understatement.

    After an insane day of golf to decide our first Skull Cup champion players from both teams headed to the TPC Scottsdale to take in the first round of play at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Oakley once again is one the biggest sponsors of the Phoenix Open with the Greenskeeper area, Rolling O Lab in the main tent and official eyewear sponsor of the infamous 16th hole. The Skull Cup players were stoked to enjoy the Oakley suite at the 16th hole and take in all the action that makes this a truly one of kind spectator arena.

    Thursday was D-Day, the final round of play and what better format then match play to decide everything. The West Coast Team went into match play up a full point, but with how talented each player was on both sides it might as well have been tied.

    This morning we awoke to temps in the mid-30s with 30 mph winds, which would seem normal this time of year if you were in say Colorado, but not Scottsdale, Arizona. Although conditions were not ideal the West and East Coast Teams were amped to hit the links.

    Oakley once again does it right with the first ever Skull Cup, which is a culmination of the brand’s Pro/Am golf tournament series. Skull Cup is a “Ryder Cup” style event that pits the winners’ from each Pro/Am around the US in 2010 and pits them in an East vs. West team competition.

Oakley’s young smasher Matt Duchene took the first-ever penalty shot in NHL All-Star history…after fellow O star Alex Ovechkin chucked a hockey stick to stop his breakaway, that is. Ovi and Matt were just two of more than 30 NHL All-Star players proudly rockin’ Oakley Hockey Visors (out of a total of 48) – displaying the Big O’s enormous presence in the league and the trust star pros have in our cutting-edge technology.

    Five total. Three straight. Flat out awesomeness from Oakley’s phenomenal Bob and Mike Bryan, who tallied their 10th major title with a huge victory over Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes (6-3, 6-4) this past weekend at the Australian Open. The dynamic O duo, currently the World No. 1, were throwing down in their sixth Aussie Open final in seven years after finishing as runners up in 2004-2005. But despite their frequent appearances and amazing success, they’re as charged up as ever. “It never gets old,” said Bob, rockin’ his Oakley watch. “Especially to play those two guys, the ‘Indian Express’, who we have tons of respect for. We were jacked up for this match. These two guys are legends. It was an extra special feeling out there on the court playing two guys that dominated the game 10 years ago.”
