Rich Froning

Performance Sports

Rich Froning is a freak of nature. While his extremely fit physique proves this fact, his more than impressive resume confirms it. Known as one of the most prolific CrossFit Games athletes in recent years, Froning is more notably the only athlete to repeat as CrossFit Games Men’s Champion in the history of the competition. The Tennessee native swept up the competition in both 2011 and 2012 and shows no signs of slowing down. Coming from humble beginnings, Froning took interest in the sport when introduced to it by a college professor in 2009. He didn’t offically compete in the Games until 2010, but since then, he’s wracked up quite the stat sheet, not to me...

The 2013 Giro d’italia is in the books and to say it was an epic race is an understatement. Some of the best riders in the world battled some less than favorable conditions throughout the 21 stages of the race, including strong winds, blistering rain and even downpours of snow on multiple occasions. Oakley riders persevered however; securing some of the top spots in one of road cycling’s biggest races of the year. Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali, of Astana, donned the pink jersey for winner of the general classification category, finishing the race in an overall time of 84:53:28". Additionally, Britain and Omega Pharma-Quick Step’s legendary sprinter, Mark Cavendish earned the red jersey for overall points leader. Both sported their Oakley RadarLock sport performance glasses on the podium with a fitting choice of Positive Red Iridium lenses to go with their respective final jerseys. Other Oakley riders had a successful Giro, including the 2011 Tour de France champion, Cadel Evans,...

Bozeman, Montana native and Boulder, Colorado resident, Tejay van Garderen has a lot of pride. Pride in his team (BMC Racing), pride in himself (a 24-year-old American cycling phenom) and pride in his sport of road cycling as a whole. So it couldn’t be more fitting that the highly anticipated first major stage race win would come from the young American on his home soil. Van Garderen secured his maiden victory at the 2013 Amgen Tour of California this past week, touring the The Golden State from south to north in a winning time of 29 hours 43 minutes. The 8-stage race took riders from the blistering conditions in Escondido and Palm Springs all the way up to the final stage from San Francisco to Santa Rosa, California.
