Test Romp: Off-Road Star Ricky Johnson to Run Mind-Blowing Airwave Goggle at Red Bull Frozen Rush, R&D for Motorsports

Ricky Johnson is used to blazing trails.

Smashing into fame with AMA national championships and some epic seasons in the Outdoors and Supercross, the converted off-road star is set to plow his way into history even more by mashing an off-road vehicle in freezing temperatures at Red Bull Frozen Rush this coming weekend.

Armed and dangerous with two sets of Oakley’s mind-blowing Airwave™ GPS enabled goggle, the long-time ripper will conduct research and development, real time, for the goggle’s future evolution into other potential projects and usage.

Laced with a space age heads up display with GPS, Bluetooth® and more, the Airwave features onboard sensors (instant access to jump analytics: distance, height, airtime), integrated applications for measuring altitude and mapping runs, music control, preloaded maps, buddy tracking and more.

There’s no doubt that in extreme conditions, on one hell of a figure right track with jumps and berms, that Ricky – who also regularly rocks Oakley’s bleeding edge, Swiss-made watches during the off-road season – will be doing some serious field-testing while putting on a dazzling show for the masses.

Can a Pro 4 truck mash in the snow and open up the floodgates for the sport to expand into Winter months in cold terrain?

Only someone like Ricky can take the bull by the horns and find out if, in fact, that road can be paved for others.

“If you’re in the Northeast on Feb. 15, get yourself to Mount Snow. This is going to be a dream come true for me and a hell of a good time for you,” Ricky says. “If you can’t make it, be sure to check it out online at Red Bull afterwards. It’s going to be awesome. Can’t wait!”
