Bio

Up Close & Personal:

  1. Number of years participating in your sport: 2007 is my 4th year in Pro Sport Compact Drag Racing.
  1. When did you start your sport? I started going to Test & Tune nights at local tracks in 2002 and entered my first event that year as well. By 2003 I was competing in the entire national series.
  1. Years as a professional: I started racing NHRA’s Pro Hot Rod class in 2004, so this is my 4th season.
  1. Who / What inspires you? My Parents, Jim & Pam Eggum, for their support from day 1 when they thought racing would be another “phase”, for allowing me to blow through me & my sister’s college tuitions and the look of pride on their face when I succeed.

- Harry Hruska, my engine tuner & owner of Precision Turbo, his dedication and support of my racing has given me the most confidence in my ability as a professional driver.

- And Jeromie Hicks, my crew chief, for joining the team in 2005, moving to IL from Texas and building this record setting race car.

  1. If you were not a pro racer you would be? Honestly, I have no idea! Prior to racing I was a Hair Colorist & I’m not going back, so Racing has got to be long term for me!
  1. What are the career risks? Anything can happen in a race car, I’ve had my engine blow up & the car go up in flames; Rear rotors exploded and my car went flying off the end of the track; Suspension parts break causing the car to drive straight towards the wall, etc…
  1. To me, Oakley is: An addiction! My crew and family included, we all love and wear the clothes, shoes, glasses, luggage, etc.
  1. Favorite:
    - Bands: Amy Winehouse, Social Distortion, Mos Def, Massive Attack, The Roots, Pharoahe Monch, The Deftones…
    - Films: The Abyss, Tim Burton Films, Quirky Pitt films ie: Kalifornia, 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, Ocean’s 11, Anything with Al Pacino, Ryan Gossling, Parker Posey or Ryan Reynolds.
    - Books: Dean Koontz, Michael Crichton, Dan Brown & Jeffery Deavers Novels.
    - TV Shows: The L Word, Grey’s Anatomy, Nip/Tuck & ESPN2 for Racing only.
    - Drinks: Diagnosed Starbuck’s Addict, FUZE, Tazo tea’s
  1. What move / trick are you working on? I’d like to get into a RWD car for next year, possibly for the Modified class.

O Favorites:

- For me personally, the Oakley Racing gear I can’t go without. I was testing at Rt. 66 Raceway the first time I used the driving gloves, my cv joint broke and had it not been for the gloves, the steering wheel would have been ripped from my hand, making for a nasty collision with the guard wall.

- Aside from the racing gear, half my closet now consists of the Oakley Women’s line, I use all the Oakley Luggage for my constant traveling, daily trips to the gym and lugging my laptop everywhere.

- For my Crew Chief, he can’t get enough of the GasCan’s, he’s got about 5 pairs and I just got him a Race Win bonus, the Thump 2’s for his other Pro career in Bass Fishing
