Kick the tires, light the fires: Oakley is plowing deeper into the Motorsports world.

Some of the World’s top athletes on four wheels are using Oakley’s innovative race gear to sharpen their edge over the competition. Exhibit A: Clint Bowyer, the current number 12 driver in the chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

From Oakley eyewear, super protective racing suit, gloves to racing boots, Clint rocks products in Oakley’s ever-expanding gear collection – featuring patented O technology – whenever he’s owning rivals on the track. And lately, that’s been pretty darned often.

Clint blasted his way to a fourth place finish in last Saturday’s Irwin Tool Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, completing the monster 500-lap race at the .533-mile short track. The finish solidified his hold on the 12th and final spot in the Chase for the coveted NASCAR Sprint Cup.

There’s but two races left – at Atlanta and Richmond – before the 26-race cutoff. And after the weekend, he widened his lead over the rival closest behind him to 100 points. That rival happens to be fellow Oakley athlete, Jamie McMurray, who’s still knocking at his doorstep. But Clint continues to command the 12th slot at the moment.

“We all talked before the race,” said Bowyer, sporting his Oakley shades after Saturday’s event. “This was a team effort and it’s going to take a team effort going forward to get ourselves moving in the Chase. The [pit crew] guys did their job on pit road…I promised them I would do my job.”

Clint and Jamie aren’t alone in O Team competitor thrashing. Oakley teammate Tony Stewart is even higher on the Sprint Cup totem pole. Stewart holds the sixth spot in the Chase, rounding out the O Team’s list of NASCAR speed demons who have a legitimate shot at ending the season with sheer glory: With the shiny cup in hand.

With the trio up top, and other NASCAR stars emerging victorious at various stops – such as Juan Pablo Montoya at Watkins Glen a few weeks prior – Oakley continues to make its presence known at raceways all across the nation. And we’ve only just begun. The Big O is only going to keep charging forward from here.
