Ryan Villopoto is the third person in history to win his first premier class race and the only other person besides Carmichael to claim three-straight 250 motocross titles and then win his 450-class debut. His first championship came outdoors in 2006 following a third place in the Western SX Lites series. He backed that up with a sweep of 2007 and was poised to do it again in ’08 but came up short in the final SX Lites race. On January 17, a scene that unreal became a reality. Gathering on a magical night filled with anticipation and buzz, Oakley’s stars collided with motocross industry media, factory teams, MX accounts, special guests and O team members for the official unveiling of the Airbrake MX goggle. And it was as dramatic as could possibly be imagined.
