Ryan Villopoto is the third person in history to win his first premier class race and the only other person besides Carmichael to claim three-straight 250 motocross titles and then win his 450-class debut. His first championship came outdoors in 2006 following a third place in the Western SX Lites series. He backed that up with a sweep of 2007 and was poised to do it again in ’08 but came up short in the final SX Lites race. Oakley’s Motocross Superstar James Stewart dominated the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross opener at Hangtown this past Saturday, dazzling fans in his much-anticipated return to the Outdoors. Despite his three years away from racing the series full time, coupled with his super recent (and immensely dramatic) switch to Yoshimura Suzuki after parting ways with Joe Gibbs Racing, he immediately sent a resounding message to the industry with a display of raw speed and flashes of the “Bubba of old.”

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. (May 15, 2012) – Oakley, one of the leading sports brands in the world, and MX Sports Pro Racing/Alli Sports – organizers of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing – announced today the “Oakley Bomb” Fastest Lap Program for the 2012 series. The weekly award program, set to recognize the fastest clocked laps at each of the 12 Nationals for both the 250 and 450 Classes with a special Oakley Bomb trophy, will recognize the rider who accumulates the most Bombs throughout the season with an Elite Oakley Time Bomb II Swiss Automatic Watch at the end of the year.
