The heated battle for the top of the Supercross standings is raging on. Retaking the lead in his Title defense, Oakley Motocross Star Ryan Villopoto claimed a resounding victory in San Diego before a massive crowd of 58,782 raucous fans in Qualcomm Stadium. It was his third victory on the season. “You really had to be smooth every lap,” Ryan said, rocking his Signature Series Oakley MX Goggles. “San Diego’s dirt is really slippery and made it tough to be consistent for the full 20-lap main event. I’ve never won San Diego in the Supercross Class. It was great to get my first win here and end Chad’s (Reed) win streak at Qualcomm Stadium. Hopefully I can start a streak my own as we head to Cowboys Stadium next week.”

The 2011 Supercross Champ just made another statement. Ryan Villopoto’s dominating Supercross victory at Anaheim 2 placed his full intent on defending his title on display – grabbing the holeshot and leading the pack for all 20 laps to his second triumph of the season. “James (Stewart) and Chad (Reed) were riding good tonight,” RV said, rocking his signature series Oakley MX goggles. “I knew I had to stay on my toes and not make a mistake. We need to take it one race at a time. I had a great start and to be perfect on the start difficult.” Screaming out of the gates, he grabbed the Holeshot…and never looked back. RV lead from the green flag to the checkered – fending off charges, but never really challenged.

Ryan Villopoto picked up right where he left off…on fire. Oakley’s defending Supercross Champion (and AMA Motocross Champ) dominated the 2012 Supercross opener at Angel’s Stadium of Anaheim on Saturday, pulling away from the pack after grabbing the Holeshot to cruise onto a smooth victory in front of Chad Reed and fellow Oakley star Ryan Dungey. The impressive triumph topped off a brilliant evening that saw Oakley-backed Troy Lee Racing claim its own win in the Lite’s Main Event after Cole Seely raged back from behind to claim glory.
