Oakley's James Stewart Lights up Anaheim with Exciting Monster Energy Supercross Win
At the opening race of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, defending AMA Supercross class champion, Oakley’s James Stewart, of Dade City, Fla., pulled off an exciting, come from behind win to open the season in front of 43,841 fans at Angel Stadium. Oakley’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., won the $1,500 SPIKE Holeshot Award in his official AMA Supercross class debut with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto, of Poulsbo, Wash., and Stewart following in second and third, respectively.

America has once again claimed the top spot at the world’s biggest motocross race, winning one of the most competitive Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations in history, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports. Hopes for another AMA Team USA win at the Motocross of Nations, held this year in Franciacorta, Italy, were slim heading into the last moto. The U.S. squad of Ryan Dungey, Ivan Tedesco and Jake Weimer was third in team points heading into the final race, but an inspired performance — and a little luck — put them firmly in the lead when the dust settled.

Oakley’s Ryan Dungey finished off a rollercoaster season with his first outdoor national motocross title after turning in a 2-2 performance for a runner-up finish in the 250 division at the final round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series at Steel City Raceway in Delmont, Pennsylvania.
