Bubba and RC Go 1 and 2 To Start New 2006 Series Outdoor Season

Oakley star, James Stewart, gave another amazing performance while wearing his Signature series CROWBAR™ goggle at the opening round of the 2006 outdoor series. Aboard his Kawasaki KX450F in rain infested muddy Hangtown raceway, Stewart displayed a thrilling come from behind victory in the first moto. With a calculated effort in the second moto, it resulted in a second-place finish and an overall win.

Stewart’s overall victory marked his first ever overall in the elite big bike class. With this win, it unfortunately ended the illustrious 27-race win streak currently held by Oakley’s Ricky Carmichael. RC snagged the holeshot in the first moto, but slid out just past the first turn. As RC got up, he pulled a tear off from his Signature series MX O-FRAME® goggle and began giving a clinic on how to come from behind through the pack.

Bubba also fell on the first lap, and then the two hooked up in the middle of the field to battle for position. Stewart and Carmichael traded positions a couple of times before Stewart broke away from Carmichael. Stewart then caught Reed in dramatic fashion to make the pass on the last lap to take the first moto win.

In the second moto, RC again got the holeshot but this time never let go. The defending outdoor champ opened up a big lead and was never challenged. Bubba didn’t need to take the second moto win to get the overall so he played a smart race and settled for second, which still gave him the overall. Stewart’s 1-2 bettered Carmichael’s 3-1 for the Hangtown win, his first in the Motocross class.
