Oakley’s Ricky Carmichael wearing his Signature O FRAME goggle continued his winning ways before a crowd of 26,000, with a pair of impressive rides en route to his sixth consecutive AMA Motocross Championship overall win today.

Carmichael has gone on a tear since losing the season opener to James Stewart, winning each of the last six races in convincing fashion. Carmichael has won 33 of the last 34 AMA Motocross races he has entered, and pushed his overall win total to an AMA record of 141 for his career.

"It’s always tough to come here because of the elements and altitude," said Carmichael, who also won the inaugural event at Thunder Valley a year ago. "We are down, like, 22 percent on horsepower due to altitude. It’s always fun to come to a track that is relatively new. This is a special weekend because my friend Ernesto Fonseca was here and I was super pumped to see him."

Oakley’s rookie rider Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga. finished second overall with a 3-2 moto finish, securing his fourth podium of the season. Stewart, wearing his signature crowbar goggle finished third with a 2-5.

Carmichael extended his lead in the AMA Motocross Championship to 69 points over Yamaha’s Chad Reed and is in good shape for a record 10th title.

Ryan Villopoto won his fourth consecutive overall of the season and has taken control of the AMA Motocross Lites points battle, taking a 13-point lead over KTM’s Mike Alessi in the standings. Suzuki’s Broc Hepler finished second overall with a 4-2 finish in the motos, while Alessi was third (3-3).
