At this year’s MTB World Cup in Fort William Oakley’s athletes dominated the podiums in all kinds of disciplines. Oakley’s Jared Graves won the 4X. Oakley’s Florian Vogel won the XC race in front of Oakley’s Nino. Oakley’s Marie-Helene Premont won the women’s XC race, Marie-Helene Premont remains the World Cup leader. In the DH race, Oakley’s Greg Minnaar placed first, followed by Oakley’s Gee Atherton in second. Tracy Moseley won the women’s race.

This year’s XC race was definitely a Swiss race. Florian Vogel (SUI, Oakley) and Nino Schurter (SUI, Oakley) of the Swisspower MTB Team and Christophe Sauser (SUI) raced for the podium and finally it ws a battle between the two teammates. They felt very well on the course and racing each other was kind of fun for them.
Florian won the race infront of Nino and Sauser. 5th ranked Oakley athlete Burry Sander (RSA,Oakley). Unfortunately Thomas “Frischi” Frischknecht was out of the race after the strt by having a bad crash. Luckily Thomas is not seriously injured.
Overal Christophe Sauser is leading Julien Absalon (FRA, Oakley) and Nino Schurter (SUI, Oakley) in foront of team mate Florian Vogel (SUI, Oakley) and Burry Sander (RSA, Oakley).

Womens XC race once again was reigned by Oakley’s Marie-Helene Premont (CAN, Oakley). Marie-Helene won the race in front of Margarita Fullana (ESP) and on 3rd place Sabine Spitz (GER, Oakley). Calling another victory her own Marie-Helene Premont remains World Cup leader and travels to Worlds in Val di Sole in two weeks as one of our hopefulls for this year’s medals. In overall ranking Sabine Spitz is on 5th rank now.

After worlds in Val di Sole in 2 weeks Olympic qualifying should be done and our team for Beijing should be decided.

After having raced different BMX tracks all around the world Jared Graves (AUS, Oakley) showed off his skills. After winning the qualifiing Jared put together great racing and earned himelf the victory in this race in front of Joost Wichmann (NED), Dan Atherton (GBR) and Oakley’s Michal Prokop (TZE, Oakley). Maribor winner Rafael Alvarez de Lara Lukas (ESP, Oakley) got 6th and Oakley’s Cedric Gracia 8th. Overall Guido Tschugg (GER) leads Dan Atherton (GBR), Rafael Alvarez de Lara Lukas (ESP, Oakley), Jared Graved (AUS, Oakley) and Cedric Gracia (FRA, Oakley).

As we did not see Anneke Beerten (NED, Oakley) on the top spot of the podium this weekend the race differs a bit from the last 2 4X world Cups. For sure Anneke once again did a great race and ended up on 3rd place behind Jana Hurakova (CZE, who won the race) and Rachel Seydoux (SUI, Oakley) who is on of the upcoming rookies in 4X racing from Europe. Overall Anneke Beerten is still leading the World Cup.

After finishing 3rd in Andorra Greg Minnaar now made his call in Fort William and proved that he is the fastet athlete on Scotlands very rough and fast course. Greg Minnaar (RSA, Oakley) took the victory from Gee Atherton (GBR, Oakley) who got 2nd in front of Briatain Steve Peat on 3rd place.
In Overall Sam Hill is leading the World Cup ahead of Gee Atherton and Greg Minnaar on 3rd place.

Tracy Moseley (GBr, Oakley) wo the women s DH race in front of Sabrina Jonnier (FRA) and Andorra’s winner Rachel Atherton (GBR). Oakley’s Mio Suemasa from Japan got 4th.
