Oakley's Julien Absalon Wins, While Oakley's Nino Schurter Earns Second In Offenburg

Offenburg XC World Cup 2010

Oakley’s Julien Absalon was 49 seconds ahead of Oakley’s Nino Schurter and won the third round of the UCI MTB XC World Cup held in Offenburg, Germany. Absalon and Schurter placed 1st and 2nd respectively.  With this win Absalon took the lead in the standings.

More than 20, 000 spectators saw an exciting dual between Schurter and Absalon. This time, Absalon prevailed and won his fourth straight victory at Offenburg.

Absalon said afterwards: “I like this course very much, it has very technical sections, plus good climbing.  It was a very close race with Nino at the beginning, but I finally managed to get a little gap on him on the longer climb and was then able to increase it a little more every lap.”

Catharine Pendrel of Canada dominated the Women’s race leading American Georgia Gould for the first two laps before dropping her on the third and soloing to victory. This was Pendrel’s first race win in Europe.
