With his out-of-nowhere win at the 2001 Sea Otter Classic, Kyle was hailed as “the next Ryan Nyquist.” He squeeezes in NORBA competitions, World Cup contests, and global one-off events such as Red Bull Rampage. Kyle won the 2004 Red Bull Taxco Downtown with a 60-foot gap jump as well as the 2005 Red Bull Valparaiso Downtown. But his most exciting competition was the 2004 World Junior Downhill Championships in France. Kyle’s third-place finish was his first World Championship podium and the only downhill medal awarded to a U.S. rider. Read more about Kyle Strait

    The 2009 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships took place this past week at Mount Stromlo, on the outskirts of Australia’s capital of Canberra. The Oakley Factory Pilot team gathered from all over the globe to compete at the highest level in the hope to test their skills to become “World Champion”. After 5 days of racing we are proud to report Oakley has 4 new World Champions and a total of 10 World championship medals earned by Oakley athletes who rely on our product as Vital Equipment.

    Oakley’s Maunuel Prado and Sid Taberlay placed first and second at the Over the Hump Race, held on a beautiful, warm day at Irvine Lake, last week. Legendary Johnny O’Mara placed 10th. Oakley sponsors the Over the Hump series, a “grassroots” event, which brings the Orange County Mountain Bike community together for a midweek, laidback, fun race.

    Some of Oakley’s top factory pilots (two wheel “no motor”) along with Oakley employees and friends, including editors from Outside Magazine and Wired, came together yesterday to shred, in sunny skies, at Oakley’s newly built pump track for a special media event. Oakley’s Dirt Lab, which is essentially a pump track, was designed by legendary pro mountain bike rider, Brian Lopes.
