When you’ve dominated 98 national NHRA events over the course of a storied career, winning becomes an expected result. But for Jeg Coughlin Jr., who instantaneously was catapulted into contention for his fifth Pro Stock Championship with his victory at Concord, every win is crucial…and appreciated. “Being the first round of the Countdown, to get a win was amazing,” said Jeg, following his 55th career Pro Stock triumph. "We had a fast car, kept lane choice all the way through the final until Jason outran us. Fortunately, we were able to get a little head start. I was able to get him on the Tree a bit and pull off this huge, huge win.”

Smashing through extreme heat, six extended caution periods and multiple crashes, the young phenom found glory despite the extreme challenges before him. Starting in fifth, Josef fell back as far as 19th before powering his way forward through the field.

The three-time defending Supercross Champion stuck another feather in his Championship cap after sweeping both Motos at the Utah National on Aug. 17 – claiming his second Outdoors crown and even more accolades before the season even ended. High-fiving hordes of admiring fans after his season triumph was secured, the legend-in-the-making celebrated his eighth overall AMA Championship – tying him for second all-time with Jeremy McGrath. The feat places him 15 titles behind fellow Oakley MX superstar, Ricky Carmichael.
