It’s already been one insane Supercross season…with loads of drama. Atlanta took that, detonated it and stepped it up some. More than 69,000 fans smashed into the Georgia dome this past weekend to watch Oakley’s Ryan Villopoto emerge victorious after a controversial pass by Chad Reed dropped then leader O’s James “Bubba” Stewart to a fourth place finish in the final lap. Ryan Dungey, on the heels of a second place finish in San Diego, held within the leading pack and grabbed a solid second to stay in striking distance in the Championship standings.
NASCAR Fans are some of the most dedicated, hard-core sports fans on Earth. And that includes their support of companies within the industry. “I love Oakley! I won’t buy anything else or put anything else on my eyes!” That should tell the whole story in itself. The Big O’s prominence in the four-wheel motorsports world can rarely be displayed better than at the Mecca of all that is NASCAR: The Daytona 500.
It might as well have been a drag race. Oakley’s Clint Bowyer, who charged through most of the contest at the front of the pack, was edged by a miniscule .007 seconds by fellow Oakley Star Tony Steward, who grabbed his 10th victory in 91 Nationwide series starts on Saturday. The win, also his 16th total victory at Daytona, came after a dramatic side-by-side mad dash to the finish line.
