Casey Stoner has fond recent memories of Laguna Seca Raceway. And he just added another to the pot. At the site where he was crowned the 2011 MotoGP World Champion, Oakley’s Australian Star claimed his fourth victory on the season and his second consecutive – topping Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa for glory in the Golden State. The two-time champ finished 32 laps in 43 minutes, 45.961 seconds from Pole – passing Lorenzo on the inside at Turn 1 on Lap 21. He was also the only elite rider in the race to choose softer tires – resulting in a careful effort to conserve them throughout the race.
Gustavo Yacaman could be getting used to victory lane. Oakley’s rising IndyCar driver lead for 38 laps en route to an impressive Indy Lights victory at Toronto – effectively tallying his second-ever series triumph. He blazed his way to a glorious first win at Detroit earlier in the season.
Ryan Dungey loves RedBud MX. Oakley’s Minnesota-raised Motocross Star threw down, big time, at his favorite track in the AMA Motocross series, sweeping the 450 class motos for his fourth straight victory on the season. The triumph pushed his lead in the Championship standings to a massive 72 points ahead of Mike Alessi. “Having James (“Bubba” Stewart) back this week was good to add another challenge, and it’s good for the sport,” said Ryan, rocking his Signature Series Oakley MX Goggles. “We made some more changes to the bike coming into (today) and I think we’ve made even more progress. My starts were good and I knew getting out front would make life easier, having a whole track to work with. It’s (too) early to think points, but you’ve got to be smart. With James back, you knew he’d be there, so I didn’t want to downplay him. I just wanted to get a good start and see how things played out.”
