Ryan Villopoto is the third person in history to win his first premier class race and the only other person besides Carmichael to claim three-straight 250 motocross titles and then win his 450-class debut. His first championship came outdoors in 2006 following a third place in the Western SX Lites series. He backed that up with a sweep of 2007 and was poised to do it again in ’08 but came up short in the final SX Lites race. Scott Dixon blasted his way to his first victory of the season on the 2.5-mile triangle, leading the way for Ganassi’s sweep of the day during the first open-wheel race on the course since 1989. With the pains of a big victory drought with his former team in his rear-view mirror, Valentino Rossi masterfully dominated his way to a long-awaited triumph in the Netherlands this past weekend – topping fellow Oakley rider and new generation young gun, Marc Marquez. “I’m very happy and I can’t believe the victory after a lot of time,” Valentino said following his first win after moving on to Yamaha. "I worked very hard and never gave up.” It didn’t take long for Vale to take the reigns.

    To say that the Red Bull KTM Team recognized Jeffrey Herlings’ potential from the time he barely hit puberty, wouldn’t be much of an exaggeration. He’s been on the program since the moment he was old enough to qualify for the Motocross World Championship. So it was only fitting that just as the Dutch teen motocross phenom claimed his 10th Motocross Grand Prix victory (out of 10) in Sweden, KTM announced a two-year extension of his contract with the team.
