Get Amped! Oakley Motocross Stars to Highlight Supercross Season Preview on CBS Sports-Christmas Day
Time to ignite your Holiday weekend. Get amped: CBS Sports will drop the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Season Preview on Sunday, Dec. 25 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The one-hour, adrenaline-packed showcase will serve as a massive buildup for the much-anticipated Anaheim 1 season opener on Jan. 7 at Anaheim Stadium – profiling the sport’s most prominent stars and favorites. And of course, Oakley’s superstars will be front and center – and in the spotlight. O speed demons Ryan Villopoto (defending Supercross Champion), Ryan Dungey, James “Bubba” Stewart, Josh Grant and Davi Millsaps are all names in the Championship mix, of course. And their presence will be felt – big time – in the preview show.
A Supercross Title and the AMA Pro Motocross Title in the same year just wasn’t enough for Ryan Villopoto. Oakley’s Superstar Motocross Team Rider dropped into the first-ever Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas, dominating all three main events to claim a massive $1 Million at Sam Boyd Stadium. “It’s pretty unreal,” Ryan said, rocking his Oakley Signature Series Motocross Goggles. “I’m happy we were able to pull it off. To back it up next year would be hard, so if we do, it would be great. I can’t thank my team enough for this amazing victory.”
It took a late, massive charge in the very last race to claim glory. But the talent-packed motocross from team from the United States did just enough – in the nick of time – to emerge from the FIM Motocross of Nations Championship in Saint Jean D’Angely on Sept. 18 with their 22nd overall victory and the coveted Chamberlain Trophy. Lead by Oakley stars like Supercross/AMA Motocross Champion Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey, the proud team finally reclaimed the hardware – now bound for American soil. But it was far from a breeze in the French countryside.
