Team Oakley’s Ricky Carmichael won his third straight AMA Supercross of the season and regained the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross points lead at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. This win is Carmichael’s sixth win of the season and his fifth Daytona win, making him the only rider to have won five races here. It also marks Suzuki’s first Daytona victory since 1981.

"When I was at the gate I heard the announcer say that the last time Suzuki won here was in 1981 and I was 2 years old," said the defending AMA and World Supercross Champion. "I’ve got to thank Makita Suzuki, Oakley and Fox it’s great to win a race here on a Suzuki. I’m happy to get the win, but I’m really, really happy for my Sponsors."

In the 20-lap Daytona main event, Carmichael got a good jump off the gate and was running in second place behind Oakley Teammate James Stewart. Stewart started to pull away when once again the bad luck struck as Bubba went down hard going over the bars on the fourth lap. Bubba took a second to get up, but once on his feet again he remounted the bike and started slicing his way back to the top ten. When the black and white fell Bubba found himself in sixth. After the Bubba crash, Carmichael began to create a gap on Reed in second and then quickly pulled away from the field. He eventually went on to win by more than 30 seconds over second place.

In the Supercross lites class it was once again Oakley’s Davi Millsaps who took the Win. At the start Davi finally got off to a good start to make things easy on himself this week. After a second place start Davi moved into the lead on the first lap through the whoops and never looked back. Davi put the hammer down for fifteen laps straight and he easily brought home the win for his team and sponsors.
