Oakley's Ricky Carmichael Sweeps Budds Creek National

Oakley’s Ricky Carmichael stretched his winning streak to three with a sweep of the motos this weekend at the Budds Creek National. This was basically just another day at the office for RC, who benefited from the absence of Oakley’s James Stewart, who sat out the event with injuries. Carmichael, who was wearing his signature MX O FRAME® goggle took charge from the onset and took first in both motos, after receiving early-race challenges from Chad Reed.

With track temperatures approaching triple-digit temperatures, the enthusiastic crowd of 17,600 witnessed why Carmichael has been dubbed the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). "It was a good battle (with Chad) and we got going in that second moto," said Carmichael, "This track is super tough to pass on. It’s tough to get by riders so I had to get a little aggressive or else I would have to follow them."

The up and comer, Oakley backed Davi Millsaps had a strong appearance placing 3rd in the first moto. In the second moto he was running 3rd until 4 laps to go, when he decided to take a nap on Budds Creek’s soil. After the race Millsaps was extremely sore but will be in action the next round in Red Bud Mich.

The win was a record 136th in Carmichael’s career and extended his lead over Reed to 20 points in the AMA Motocross Championship.

AMA Motocross Championship will be heading to Buchanan, Mich., on July 1, for the Red Bud National where James Stewart will be back in action going head to head with Ricky Carmichael.
