Carmichael Takes Control

In front of the third sold-out crowd at Angel Stadium this season, Oakley’s Ricky Carmichael, won his third Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross race.

After a second place start, Carmichael pulled into the lead on lap 1. Oakley’s James Stewart started in last place due to a first turn crash. Bubba remounted and started a comeback, only to find him self on the mat again when he and seven-time supercross champion Jeremy McGrath tangled up in a sandy turn. RC never looked back as he rode a flawless race out front and took the easy win. Fortunately for him, all the mishaps where going on in the back of the pack.

Oakley’s RC has been the only rider of the season to make it to the podium at every race and he now holds the largest points lead of the season.

“It is a shame that James (Stewart) crashed,” said Carmichael. “I felt great in the main event and wanted to put on a great show, but that’s racing. I am glad to be able to leave Anaheim on a win. This season is a test of survival. I am the only one who has been on the podium at every race of the season so far.”
