James Stewart Wins First 250cc
Oakley’s James "Bubba" Stewart has become the first African-American to win a 250cc THQ World Supercross GP / THQ AMA Supercross Series competition. A racer since age four, the former MX 125cc Champion crossed the checkered before 43,276 screaming fans to make Supercross history. He also earned the Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award with fellow Oakley rider Ricky Carmichael in tow. Bubba led all 20 laps of the main event while RC finished second.
"It took me three races to win my first 250cc," said Bubba. "I have one under my belt, and now I know how it feels." The victory in Dallas was hard earned. "I didn’t have a front brake for most of the race, so it was tough, but I made it work," said Bubba after thanking his parents and sponsors for supporting him in the "team effort."
For Sunday’s victory, Bubba took advantage of 25 years of Oakley goggle technology with the new Crowbar™ MX. Offering the protection and performance demanded by the world’s top riders, the Crowbar™ MX goggle combines the comfort of moisture-wicking triple-layer face foam with the renowned optical clarity of Oakley’s laminated tearoff system. Bubba says it’s the best fitting goggle he’s ever worn, and its 3-D digital contouring offers the widest possible field of peripheral and downward vision.
