More than 69,000 fans smashed into the Georgia dome this past weekend to watch Oakley’s Ryan Villopoto emerge victorious after a controversial pass by Chad Reed dropped then leader O’s James “Bubba” Stewart to a fourth place finish in the final lap. It was utter chaos on the track Friday night at the Daytona International Speedway. Pileups galore. But Oakley Racing legend Michael Waltrip emerged from the ultra intense, crash-laced 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race with a huge victory following a last-lap pass of Elliott Sadler after a restart. The glorious moment was extra intense, as it marked 10 years to the day that Michael won the Daytona 500 – the same day his then team owner Dale Earnhardt passed away on the track following an infamous crash.

On the week of the heralded Daytona 500 race, which is set to go down on Sunday, Clint utilized the Shootout as a test run and a crash course on how to stay in front at the finish at Daytona International Speedway. Dishing out an assist for eventual winner Jeff Burton, he crossed the finish line .005 seconds behind Burton and will start sixth in Sunday’s race. Fellow Oakley driver and racing legend Michael Waltrip, whose teams include the newly formed Waltrip-Pastrana Team (with Travis Pastrana – as he transitions into four-wheel racing), sped his way into a third place finish and a solid spot in the 500…his 25th run at it!
