Despite a late, ferocious charge from fellow Oakley star James “Bubba” Stewart, RV exerted his dominance and closed out the race to grab back the points lead in the Championship standings. “It feels good to be up here tonight,” he said following the win. “We have put in a lot of work at the test track, and I have a great team behind me and a great bike under me. I hope I can carry this momentum into Anaheim next weekend.”
