Casey Stoner is officially back at No. 1. Just how we like it.

Oakley’s star MotoGP Team Rider continued his dominance this year with his fourth season win at Grand Prix of Silverstone, topping rival Jorge Lorenzo after the Spanish Standout crashed out in rainy conditions. The victory catapults Casey to the top of the World Championship Standings.

Starting from pole position, Casey executed…big time…grabbing his third straight triumph by 15 seconds over Andrea Dovizioso to lead Lorenzo by a solid 18 points in the rankings.

“I was just happy to stay up on the bike, it was incredibly cold and I was so nervous as in these conditions it’s so easy to crash,” Casey said, rocking his signature series Scalpel eyewear.

When the race raged at the start, it was Lorenzo who bolted to the front of the pack, but a mistake allowed the field’s Repsol bikes to pass – clearing the way for Marco Simoncelli to charge at the leader.

But when Lap 2 came around, it was Casey who powered forward to challenge for the front of the pack. Several corners in, he made the pass, smashing to the lead and began pulling away. And he didn’t look back from there. The Aussie stretched his advantage to 15 seconds ahead of the field, eventually lapping Hector Barbera and Randy de Puniet with three and a half laps remaining in the contest…all the way to an impressive victory.

But although the race clearly displayed his dominant form, it’s safe to say that Casey definitely isn’t resting easy. Utmost importance is being placed on the fact that every race is a new day.
“I really enjoy all the tracks coming up but anything can happen in racing, I could make a mistake, so it’s a matter of seeing what happens,” he said, as he prepares for the next stop at Assen in the Netherlands. “Each race is a clean slate for me and because I won the previous race has nothing to do with it. We don’t just expect that form to continue, we know we have to continue to work hard.”
Exactly the focus that our former Champion needs to stay on course.
Congratulations to Casey for continuing his roll toward MotoGP Glory!
