Czech It: Casey Stoner Claims Brno MotoGP, Pads No.1 Ranking

Casey Stoner is straight cruisin’, mate.

Oakley’s Aussie MotoGP Star left the rest of the field in his dust at the Czech MotoGP Grand Prix in Brno, topping Andrea Dovizioso for his sixth win of the season. The triumph extends Casey’s current Championship Standings lead to 32 points in front of defending champ Jorge Lorenzo.

Finishing the 22 laps in a solid 43 minutes, 16.796 seconds from third on the grid, it was a statement performance. But Brno was no easy task from the get-go.

“We knew we could make a strong podium challenge today, but we didn’t really expect the race win,” Casey said, rocking his Signature Series Oakley Scalpel eyewear. "As soon as the race got underway I was having a good battle with Andrea, but this cost me a little time and I was afraid that Jorge and Dani (Pedrosa) would stretch away from me.”

Pedrosa plowed out of the gates on fire, taking a commanding lead. But the Spanish rider lost the front after a crash.

With the Spaniard out of the race, Casey capitalized and took control. It was cruise control from there.

“But when I got past I found I had plenty of speed to catch up and the bike felt great. I passed Jorge and then Dani sadly crashed out, so I pushed to see if I could pull a gap and I was able to do so quite quickly. I’m very sorry for Dani, he would have been hard to beat today. After such a hard weekend it’s fantastic to come out with a comfortable win, a big thanks to my team who never gives up. Tomorrow we’ll be back on the 1000 for another day of testing, so I hope the weather stays dry for us."
